Even on a foggy day, you can still find this highpoint by locating the stone cairn and USGS marker.
This USGS marker is badly worn, you can just barely make out the words "elevation 1924" and the words "$25,000 fine for disturbing this mark." |
Affectionately dubbed "Wall Street" this section of the trail consists of 200 yards of scrambling, and navigating through narrow slabs of rock.

This highpoint derives its name from its location in the township of Mansfield (later incorporated by Stowe). The township was originally named after Lord Mansfield of England. The "Extremely Difficult" sign, seen here, is located just beyond the exit from "Wall Street." Mount Mansfield is located approximately 8 miles ENE of Stowe in Mount Mansfield State Forest. |
